Storage, shipment, loading and unloading

Storage

  • The coils should be stored dry, in a well ventilated room (preferably inside) to avoid condensation and ingress of moisture.
  • Do not store them in a place, where some amount of sand and dust may be present. Ingress of sand or dust onto the surface of a steel sheet may damage zinc or painted coat. Besides, sand and dust hinder drying process and contribute to “chalky rust” formation.
  • It is not recommended to pile coils one upon the other for safety reasons, and also for excluding the possibility of sheet deformation or other defects.
  • The coils should under no circumstances be laid or stored directly on the ground; one should lay under them some timber constructions or collision mats (using, for example, felt).
  • Any uneven surface in the storage area that can cause indentations or imprints should be avoided, because under some circumstances it may lead to damage of external coils. The coils stored horizontally should not be piled one upon each other.
  • Storage time should be minimal. It is not recommended to stockpile embossed coils, because long term storage can deform their texture.
  • We recommend making a period of storage as short as you can and to utilize stored products in the order of their reception because, as a result of extended storage, the color of old lots of products in comparison with new ones may change. The quantity of products and their term of storage should be shortened in industrial zones which are characterized by high concentration of СО2 , and in salty sand seashore areas as well.
